Dawn is Here
04:26
|
|||
There is a glimmer
A hint of hope that keeps me strong
And as it brightens
I know it’s here that I belong
In a new land
Far from where I used to know
With the warm sand
And the ocean’s morning glow
I want to see you
In every wave that hits the shore
Can’t help but feel you
When the sea lights up at break of dawn
With my wet hands
And my wet hair I will run
All the way back
Write about that rising sun
I believe the time is near
Call the ones that you hold dear
We’re riding with a new idea
So hold on tight
That dawn is here
We need each other
Almost as much as solar spark
Sister and brother
Emerge in daylight from the dark
I will carry all your goodness in my heart
Over the sea, anywhere you want me
‘Cos I believe the time is near
Call the ones that you hold dear
We’re riding with a new idea
So hold on tight
That dawn is here

Mayflower
03:37
|
|||
It started with the rumour of a new life
I quit my job and packed up for the long ride
Aware that I was leaving all security
To wander in the wilderness and dare to dream
Burning every bridge that was behind of me, oh well
I came here with no papers like a dropout
A pilgrimage, a voyage on the Mayflower
Determined not to miss an opportunity
To clutch at every straw I saw in front of me
And claim I was the ruler of my destiny, oh well
It’s no surprise I finally fell
Many more have travelled on this high wire
Told the best then sold into the worst crimes
And though I was attracted by the thrill of it
It’s not as if I bought into a counterfeit
The only person beckoning towards the pit was me
Some have been distracted by the sidelines
Torn between adventure and the old times
But let me take a moment to explain my pose;
I’d rather lose it all than bear the heavy load
Of never setting foot out of my home 'til I grow old
That's why I set out on this road
I will find my way through
Somehow I always do
It started with the rumour of a new life
To climb aboard and vanish from the shoreline
We haven’t got an anchor or a flag to fly, oh well

Plans in my Head
04:41
|
|||
Is it funny just to test you?
Is it foolishness I do?
Got no reason for my logic,
Missing evidence to prove.
Tell me all about forgiveness,
Think I need a fix of that.
In the presence of a witness
It’s never hard to find the facts.
Am I running from an open doorway
Straight into another obvious trap?
All this time I’ve been wasting,
The money I have been paying
To be safe in my home,
Roof and four walls around me.
All these dreams I’ve been cradling.
The thoughts I’ve been entertaining
To be settling down,
Forcing these sounds from my lips.
No more words.
Are you happy up above there?
Is there something I could do?
Said you always would protect me,
I said I’d always sing for you.
But there’s no point in getting angry at you,
‘cos there is nothing I can change.
All these plans I’ve been making,
The effort I have been taking
To be walking this path,
Guarding my heart from your ways.
All these words I’ve been saying;
The prayers that I have been praying
And they’re with you somewhere,
Left in the care of your ear.
In the care of your ear,
In your hands.
I’ve laid to rest the plans in my head
All this time I’ve been wasting,
The money I have been paying
To have comfort in dreams,
Painting this scene of relief.
The colours slowly are fading,
The conversation is waning
And I’m coping alright.
But I’m pining for times I can’t reach,
They won’t come.
I can’t reach this no more

Water into Wine
04:30
|
|||
This is a song about transformation, water into wine
When you’ve been holding up expectations; money, love and time
You could claw into the colours of the flag you flew so high
Or you could sink into your seat, pretend you never changed your mind
Jesus Christ was a carpenter, an apprentice and a son
Mary, Mary, quite contrary don’t you know my time’s not come
But letting go of what you’re owning when you’re holding on so tight
Could be the dawning of your calling or your water into wine
Live like the truth, it is all you wanted to do
Or follow suit when there is no-one forcing you to
One of those breeds hope, there is joy when water’s renewed
You know the things that have already been
Form the ones that haven’t yet
Can you give me an example of a seed
That wasn’t born from death?
There is an order we conform to making cycles out of time
And any pride that keeps you stationary ought to step aside
Just don’t expect to call the first place you fall upon home
You know the saviour spent the rest of his life on the road
Live like the truth, it is all you wanted to do
Or follow suit when there is no-one forcing you to
One of those breeds hope, there is joy when water’s renewed
